Cheap roof – is the lowest price right for you?

“If you are looking for the cheapest quote -be careful you might just find it!”

Bucket for a cheap roof

You may need a bucket for your cheap roof

It is beyond comprehension why so many people arrive at the conclusion that cheapest is best. So many people (to their cost) apply a supermarket shopping mentality to their selection of essential purchases. The lure of ”two for the price of one” or 50% off can be compelling whilst deciding which shampoo to buy, but would that wisdom apply if one needed a pacemaker to rectify a heart condition? I feel some wisdom should be applied when looking for something like the roof over your head (quite literally). So ask yourself, ‘do you really want a cheap roof?’

Over thirty years in the construction business has taught me that a percentage of customers tend to favour what appears to be a cheap deal or a bargain. Yes, I know none of us can afford to waste money, however, as a consequence of this one can spend a disproportionate time managing customers’ expectations than actually doing the job – Particularly when the customer has not sufficiently examined the facts.

“What can be more important to the homeowner than the roof over his head?”

Previously, I worked as a trainer / instructor for GRP roofing (fibreglass roofing) systems. I have personally trained numerous operatives on behalf of their companies. From this vantage point I was able to make a fairly reasonable assessment of the methods and products based upon my experience of the building industry (This then is from the horse’s mouth). It soon became apparent to me that the GRP roofing systems were a sound solution indeed. Typically, whilst standing and viewing the outcome of a training seminar, common response would be “well that’s a proper job” or “that is bulletproof!”

Whilst deciding to set up a flat roofing business using a Fibreglass roofing system I also had to make some very important decisions.

First question; do we choose from the cheapest products available to build a roof and take the most profit? Or do we build a business that uses only the best proven products available? As this was a decision concerning the roof over my customer’s head, there really was no decision to make.

Sticking with the latter, not basing my selection on how we can offer you a cheap roof, but rather on how long the product has been around, the infrastructure behind the product, the back up and the commitment to quality – and here we are left with a clear winner. In the future we may or may not add other systems to our range, once they too have proven themselves to be top quality and offer us the opportunity to reward our customers with only the best.

Therefore to sum my discussion up into a nutshell, we may not be the most affordable quote around in terms of a cheap roof, but we do pride ourselves on the fact that we offer our customers the best possible quality flat roofs at the best possible prices.

Be aware: “If you are looking for the cheapest quote out there, be careful, you might just find it!”
